Itinerary
In her book, Elizabeth Gilbert tells the story of how, after getting divorced, she travels to Italy (where she eats a lot), then to India (where she prays a lot) and finally to Bali, where she falls in love, not only with the island but with Felipe, a Brazilian jewellery importer. Since the book was published in 2006 (and Oprah raved about it on television), Bali has welcomed a steady stream of people hoping to 'find themselves'.
Julia Roberts went one step further and spent last year making the film version, travelling between Italy and India before on the island with her husband and In Bali. In Bali where nearly everyone speaks English, it is easy to follow in Elizabeth Gilbert's footsteps. The aptly named Nomad Cafe, in the centre of Ubud, seems to be a natural gathering point for Eat, pray, Love aficionados. Under whirring fans, one can see women sitting with well-thumbed copies of the book!
This delightfully relaxing holiday is designed to show case the natural beauty of Bali, visit the best spa`s, wine and dine in some truly beautiful places and to allow you to relax and find yourself in true Elizabeth Gilbert fashion! We cannot guarantee that you will find Felipe and fall in love – but we can promise you an amazing holiday!

About Tugu Bali
At Canggu Beach, a quiet surf and sunset beach in the quaint fishermen village of Canggu, at the southwest coast of Bali. Located 30 minutes from Ngurah Rai Int’l Airport, 15 minutes from chic downtown Seminyak, and 10 minutes from a golf course voted to be the best in Southeast Asia. The hotel is designed to bring back to life the romantic, forgotten tales of Java and Bali. The hotel, owned by an Indonesian who has been collecting antiques since the early 1960s, is home to one of the largest original art collections in Southeast Asia. The main building, the Bale Agung, features a distinctive architecture inspired by a secluded village in Central Bali, whereas some of the public areas are original hundreds-years-old structures moved in entirety into the property. The suites are housed in individual buildings tucked in lush tropical gardens and natural lotus pond facing the Indian Ocean.
Day 2 – Flower arranging
The preparation of the frequent Balinese celebrations and ceremonies still plays an important role in the island’s traditional way of life, although time-consuming and restricted to very disciplined attention to details. Balinese offerings, flower & "janur" (palm leaf) arrangement are so colourful, exotic and unique that they were recurrently reviewed in international books and learnt by many around the world.
We will start the day by receiving our blessings by the priest and will be followed by the “Gebogan” flower arrangement at Timpag Village. We will continue our visit to Batukaru Temple (located in the middle of the forest in very spiritual surroundings), and then pass through Jatilweih (a beautiful rice terrace field).
Accommodation – Dedari Suite including breakfast, lunch will be included today
Day 3 – Cooking class at Bumbu Bali
Today we will discover the spiced flavours of Bali’s virtually unknown cuisine. Classes offer a fascinating introduction to the exotic ingredients and unique culinary heritage of Bali. They provide a valuable insight into the various techniques of food preparation and the cooking style used in homes.
Classes start with an early morning visit (0600) to the local vegetable and fish market where many of the ingredients are purchased for the day’s program, including spices, meat, chicken, cakes and the freshest seafood. The next stop will be on the beach with Ibu Nyoman who is collecting the fish from the returning fishing fleet.
After four most informative and entertaining hours in the kitchen, sample and enjoy the lovely mouth-watering dishes.
Afternoon at leisure. Enjoy the daily complimentary sunset hi-tea with traditional cakes.

This evening enjoy a Full Moon Dinner. This important ceremony in the Hindu calendar is performed every 30 days and is dedicated to the Moon Goddess, Purnama. The time of the full moon is believed to be the highest culmination of nature’s spirits affected by the moon’s power and so the ceremony is said to calm our minds and cool our hot tempers, receiving gentle and calm energy from the Moon Goddess. The other reason for the full moon ceremony is to celebrate the Balinese Lunar calendar rotation (Penanggal Çasih). According to the Hindu religion, when the moon is full, the goddess Sang Hyang Chandra – the Goddess of Bulan (meaning ‘moon’ in Bahasa) – is at her most powerful. The Balinese people pray to her in order to receive her energy, which is said to be soft, calm and pacifying.
Your evening will begin with a simple offering of incense and flowers in the Resort’s temple. Drinks and canapés served in the bar. Followed by dinner.
