During the summer months, the vast Arena di Verona welcomes hundreds of thousands of people for the annual Opera Festival. There is really nowhere quite like it, a heady combination of spectacle, anticipation, colour and music. Different operas are performed each season but Verdi’s Aida is always in the programme, the sheer scale of the performing space being perfect for this most spectacular of all grand opera.

Carmen - the 30th of June; the 5th, 10th, 13th, 17th, 20th and 27th of July; the 3rd, 7th, 10th, 24th, 28th and 31st of August.
Don Giovanni - the 22nd and 29th of June; the 6th, 12th, 18th and 25th of July.
Romeo and Juliet - the 7th, 14th, 21st and 26th of July.
