During the summer months of June - September, the vast Arena di Verona welcomes hundreds of thousands of people for the annual Opera Festival. There is really nowhere quite like it, a heady combination of spectacle, anticipation, colour and music. Different operas are performed each season but Verdi’s Aida is always in the programme, the sheer scale of the performing space being perfect for this most spectacular of all grand opera.
