TONGOLE WILDERNESS LODGE

Where is it?

Located in the Nkhotakota Reserve and with breath-taking views over the beautiful Bua River. It is located  in the east of the country, 30km west of Lake Malawi. The Nkhotakota Wildife Reserve is home to over 280 species of bird. Classified as an ‘Important Bird Area’ by Birdlife International, the region is filled with a spectacular variety.

Why go?

Tongole provides a wilderness retreat with abundant and very special bird watching opportunities. The riverside location of the lodge guarantees an abundance of fishing birds like giant kingfishers and black storks, so visitors need only relax in the comfort of the lodge to enjoy some excellent bird-viewing. However, for real enthusiasts, a bird safari provides the ideal opportunity to observe some of the most varied birdlife in East Africa.
The wildlife is another feature - Elephant, antelope, monkeys and other wildlife are often seen and although rarely seen lion, leopard and buffalo are also known to inhabit this unspoiled and stunning area of wilderness. Tongole has been listed by The Times as one of the 20 best safari camps.
