LAGOON LODGE ACCOMODATION – Fully Catered
Includes: a delicious breakfast, 3-course dinner, welcome drink, morning nature walk and sundown excursion.
For the ultimate private getaway, the Lagoon Lodge captures the essence of tranquility with just 5 safari style suites hidden amongst ancient milkwood trees on the edge of the Hermanus Lagoon. Stone and glass walls open onto private decks for spectacular mountain views and soft bedding lies under romantic netting. Each room has a bathtub large enough for 2 and a private outdoor shower for an African bush experience.
Boardwalks under a canopy of trees lead to the lounge where drinks and meals are shared outdoors or by a fireplace that will warm your soul. A heated plunge pool overlooking the mountains is a favorite place to spot your favorite birds. And as evening falls, you will witness the exquisite colors of the sun setting and the glorious expanse of the star-filled South African sky.
Breakfast is a hearty fare with freshly baked muffins, homemade jams, fresh fruit and a hot meal. Sumptuous dinners are prepared by our chef and built around organic vegetables from our garden and local seasonal ingredients…and best paired with fine South African wine from our cellar!
COTTAGE ACCOMMODATION – Self catered
Food and activity options are available at the 1892 Spookhuis.
Surrounded by Milkwood trees, fynbos gardens and abundant birdlife, 4 lovely cottages are available, sleeping 2-9 guests. All have kitchens and BBQ facilities, outdoor patios and are serviced daily.
Delicious breakfast baskets, gourmet picnics, braai platters, organic produce and home made goodies are available from the 1892 Spookhuis Café’ next door.

Completely built of stacked limestone blocks in 1892, the Spookhuis is a local landmark and legend in South African history. Completely restored, it is the home to our daytime cafe' on the water, and a magnificent venue and setting for weddings, family events and conferences.
When To Go
The lodge is open all year round. Summers (September to March) are long and warm. December and January can get very hot with occasional daytime temperatures above 35 C
Winters (April to August) are generally mild but can be wet and stormy. Between June and December, Southern Right Whales from Antarctica migrate to our sheltered bays to court, mate and calf. They can seen as close as 20 meters from the shore, breaching, spraying, lobtailing. Our guests’ favorite place for peaceful, private viewing is on our 4×4 beach excursion to the top of sand dunes at a secluded part of Walker Bay Beach.
FROM CAPE TOWN
Take the N2 past the airport to Somerset West.
OPTION 1: Follow the N2 over Sir Lowry’s Pass and Houwhoek Pass; turn onto the R43 to Hermanus.
OPTION 2: Take the R44 South, along the coast; turn onto the R43 to Hermanus.
FROM HERMANUS: Drive through Hermanus to Stanford; turn right onto Queen Victoria Street. Drive 0.9 km; turn left onto Moore Street. Drive 0.4 km to the stop sign. Continue straight on the gravel road for 7 km to the MOSAIC entrance and sign.
CHECK-IN FOR LAGOON LODGE GUESTS:
Drive 400 meters and turn right onto the dirt road at the sign to the Lagoon Lodge. Drive 1 km to the Lodge. Check-in at the Lagoon Lodge Reception.
CHECK IN FOR THE COTTAGES, PICNICS, ACTIVITIES, CONFERENCES, WEDDINGS/FUNCTIONS:
Continue on the road for 3 km, following the signs to the 1892 Spookhuis. Park in the parking area and walk under the milkwood trees to the Spookhius to check in.
FROM THE GARDEN ROUTE
Follow the N2, 10 km past Riviersonderend;
Take the R 326 to Stanford.
At the stop sign at Stanford, continue straight through the intersection onto Queen Victoria Street. Follow the same directions from Queen Victoria Street above.
